I spoke to 2 people today

I almost feel invisible sometimes.  I suppose its my fault, I could go somewhere to meet people,, but I don't.. I have walked Jenny 2 times already, and the second time was when I got to talk to someone..

Jenny loves to walk down to the Thailand Junkie and gets sooo excited seeing her friends.  Well, in a few weeks time they will not be there any more.  They are closing their cute little shop.

I can't find the picture of that shop.. darn.. anyway.. I guess I'm just feeling sad .. and why am I doing this??? It was a beautiful day out today..Sunshine all day long.. still had to wear a light sweater though.. but, I think I'm such a people person.. I am feeling not good..

Oh.. well.. its just something I needed to get off my chest..lol

  1. I know the feeling Barbara. Having got out of hospital it's gone very quiet here and being retired I sometimes feel very much out of the swim of things. As you say, perhaps you need to get out and meet more people ... easier said than done though isn't it.

    Don't lose heart though.

    1. Oh.. I won't Charlie.. But sometimes it feels like I living in this apartment complex all by myself.... I go check my mail.,, or wait for the Mail Person to finish up.. and I can say Hi to a lot of people that live here. I have only been to 2 peoples apartments.. but the other neighbors.. we just say Hi on the way in and out of the building..

Today I had to wait for the cable guy.. and he was here for over an hour getting that new TV set up and then show me how the remote control works on my TV in the Living Room.. After he left, Jenny and I went for a very long walk.. Tomorrow, I plan on going to the Grocery Store.. I love going.. I can walk around and find new stuff to think of using in a recipe... LOL..

  2. There are so many organizations that need volunteers. And sometimes a volunteer position leads to a nice part time job. Having worked in the non-profit world most of my career, I can honestly tell you how appreciated volunteers are. Even if you just give two hours a week, you will meet new people and have some fun! Is there a Museum close to you, or even an assisted living center that needs help with activities for their residents. There are so many things you can do. Just a thought, Barbara. I know you like to be active and have people around you.

    1. There is a place I worked through AARP. Its called Mary's Place. Its a place for homeless and transitional women.. I worked there as a volunteer for 7 months. Because it was an AARP program I was in ,,, I could only work there that long,, and not to much longer than that. I took classes to learn different computer programs, but they were only a 2 day class,, not nearly enough time to really learn anything....

And the money was very helpful. I really think i should have saved that money..lol.. but it went towards stuff..... LOL...

  3. Terri has a good suggestion. My wife works once a week at a charity and we both have many friends from it. But you can go days without talking to anyone, I know. At least you're getting out though, Babs, that'll help.

    1. That is true.. they always need people at Pikes Place Food Bank.. I could always call them up and work there 2 times a week...

And last Wednesday I met a woman who was getting out of her car.. I was walking Jenny and she had to stop to pet her....lol.. We started talking and she gave me her phone number. She said lets get together and take our dogs to a dog park.. I have yet called her.. but I have been kinda busy this week so far..And tomorrow I have to go get groceries.. My cupboards are empty..and freezer is empty also..LOl... so I will be busy tomorrow also.. Maybe I will give her a call to see what she is doing later on this week...

  4. You are the second person to write about feeling invisible that I read on contacts today. I began to wonder if it is a DNA thing where we realize we have to start hunkering down and storing food to hibernate and survive the winter. It is coming. I know I am at a stage and so is Old Man that we want to just get back to our home area and more inside for 5 months. All of a sudden we do not want to travel for a while even to CA or AZ.

    1. Well, I can understand that you 2 are tired of all the traveling.. You have been gone for sometime, but.. you have had such a great time doing it. So, go home,,, and relax till you feel the nudge to go out on the road again...

I don't think humans are ment to be by themselves.. or hot talk to anyone for days on end.. Although...I can just walk down to the Market and OH.. I would have to take Jenny with me...lol. and lots of people to talk to there. Just like this afternoon.. I walked down and everyone stopped me to say.. Where is Jenny???? LOL... OH. just forget that I'm there....hahaaa.... Its kinda funny.... Had a good day today..
